Tom & Wendy Payer have owned Alaska Camera since 2015 and recently downsized the storefront from a full retail store to a more streamlined Rental & Printshop, which is located in their home on Heldiver St in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Originally from New England, they drove to Alaska in 1981, raising their family in a one room cabin for the first 11 years. The adventures of owning sled dogs and living simply gave Tom lots of subjects for his photography through the years. His love of sharing and teaching led to starting a photography club which has helped to bring together beginners as well as professionals.
Together they love camping and enjoying the wilderness that Alaska has to offer, fishing and spending time with their five children and 13 grandchildren.
